Fantastic Vacation Destinations in Utah
If you haven’t already seen Utah, you’re in for a rare treat! Utah has solidified itself as one of the world’s great vacation destinations, and millions of tourists make it a priority every year. From classy, one-of-a-kind hotels to magnificent national parks to active-lifestyle resorts, there’s something for everyone, which will provide a much-needed getaway from routine and stress.
Springdale, Utah and Zion Canyon
Let’s start with Zion National Park and its gateway town of Springdale. This old, yet bustling little town is the oasis for national park lovers. It’s situated at the entrance to Zion, the third most popular national park in the USA. Springdale is home to unique lodging, such as the luxurious Watchman Villas and the classy hotels of Cliffrose Lodge and Gardens and Pioneer Lodge. They have enough to bring many smiles, good food, fantastic views, and restful sleep. Wireless internet, computer, and a shuttle to and from Zion National Park are complimentary.
Springdale’s excellent restaurants and gift shops make this charming town a great vacation destination. Whether you like Mexican, Italian, American bistro, gourmet coffee, old-fashioned burgers, or seafood, Springdale has it. The gift shops feature many masterpieces from local artists, as well as fine and novel pieces imported from other states and countries. One shop specializes in gorgeous, professional photography, which will add class and color to any wall.
Once in Zion Park, you have many choices of sights and hikes to choose from. The shorter, easier hikes are to the Emerald Pools, and the more rigorous trails head through the Narrows or up to Angel’s Landing. Angel’s Landing is iconic for its treacherous ridge, with chain railing affixed, leading you to spectacular views. Be sure to grab hold of the chains to prevent the fall to death, below. To the landing and back is about five miles. Take snacks and water with you.
Five “Mighty” National Parks
Besides Zion, there are four other “mighty” national parks beckoning those who want special vacation destinations and who don’t mind some hiking, some picturesque scenery for photography, and the awe-inspiring landscapes. They are Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, and Capitol Reef. Vast expanses of colors and other-worldly rock formations make these an adventurer’s dream. Bryce is famous for its Hoodoos, the orange, sandstone statues that stand in Bryce’s canyons as if standing guard. The State Parks, too, make great vacation destinations, especially Sand Hollow State Park, near Saint George, Utah. It offers a lake to swim, boat, and fish in, plus an area of sand dunes for ATV riding.
Both State and National Parks offer the best in sightseeing, mountain biking, four-wheeling, wilderness survival treks, photographing, cliff-diving, sight-seeing, treacherous hiking, marathons and triathlons, resort playing, fishing, and hunting.
Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort
As a vacation destination for active people and families, The Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort is hard to beat. In fact, it’s ranked in the top six of USA mountain playgrounds. Zion Ponderosa is just 40 minutes’ drive north of Springdale. It has cowboy cabins for lodging and a cafe, along with a variety of mountain activities. Take your family horseback riding or sliding down the zip line for 100 yards. Also, look into the mountain biking, paintball contests, miniature golf, guided hiking, ATV tours, pool, shotgun range, volleyball, wagon ride with Dutch-oven dinner, yoga, bungee trampoline, and star gazing.
