Did you know that Vibrant Management, the management team behind Watchman Villas, manages a number of other unique destinations throughout Southern Utah? Our original property, Cliffrose, is located just a short drive from Watchman Villas and offers another great lodging option for visitors to Springdale, Utah, and Zion National Park. But what many first-time Vibrant guests may not realize is that we manage properties outside of Southern Utah as well, including a luxury fishing resort in British Columbia.
If you’ve already had a chance to stay in a Vibrant Management property, you likely already know to expect a luxury boutique stay, with unique properties and amenities that can enhance your visit to an already stunning destination. Sointula Lodge is no exception. Located on remote Malcolm Island, the Lodge offers fishing and wilderness tour packages designed for families, couples, solo travelers, corporate retreats, and everyone in between.

A History of Sointula Lodge
Sointula Lodge, formerly known as Sund’s Lodge, was founded in 1984 by Dave and Sally Sund. For several decades, they welcomed guests from around the world to the Lodge, fulfilling their dream of providing visitors with a unique experience and the finest customer service.
In 2015, Bruce and Lisa Barlean purchased the property. They worked with the Sund’s for two years before taking over operations at the end of the 2017 season. In 2020, the lodge received a new name and identity and became Sointula Lodge. Despite facing closures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lodge is eager to welcome back visitors for the 2022 summer season.
The historic lodge is where guests enjoy an evening cocktail hour, as well as dinners in the dining room, which features views of the water. The property was once a working farm, and is now home to a herd of friendly alpacas.
Fishing and Wilderness Tour Packages
One thing that sets Sointula Lodge apart from the other Vibrant Management properties are its packages. Rather than booking a night or two at the Lodge or a week’s vacation, guests can choose from four- and five-day fishing or wilderness tour packages.
On the four- and five-day fishing trips, guests enjoy long days on the water casting a line for salmon, halibut, and more. With just three to four guests on each boat, everyone receives personalized attention from experienced guides. You don’t need to have fishing experience to book a trip; your guide will be there to lend a hand and show you the ropes, whether it’s your first time on the water or you’re an experienced angler.
Come lunch time, guests will enjoy a gourmet beach picnic on a remote island one day, and a visit from the Lodge’s almost-famous burger boat another. After a day on the water, you’ll return to the Lodge for a multi-course meal, and an evening of relaxing in the hot tub, taking in the sunset on the dock, or enjoying a stroll around the beautiful property.
Wilderness Tour Packages
Sointula Lodge’s wilderness tour packages are similar to the fishing packages. But instead of spending all of your time fishing, guests can enjoy a variety of unique experiences, which are customizable to each trip. Go exploring by water in search of orcas, whales, and other wildlife. Take a remote hike, and swim beneath a scenic waterfall. You can even plan some time for fishing during your trip.
Wilderness tour guests still enjoy scenic beach lunches or visits from the Burger Boat, as well as relaxing evenings back at the Lodge. Much like at Watchman Villas, guests enjoy private accommodations in individual cabins on the property. Despite the rustic decor, these rooms offer the comfort and luxury you expect from a Vibrant Management property. There is room for just 18 guests during each trip. This guarantees that you’ll enjoy an exclusive experience that only adds to the sense of relaxation.
